Clinical Pastoral Education

Program Objectives and Methods

Clinical Pastoral Education is a professional education program available for seminarians, ministers and laypeople who wish to further develop their ability to provide pastoral care in a healthcare setting.  The program allows its students to learn basic pastoral skills while functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.  It also promotes an understanding of current medical and ethical healthcare issues and encourages an introspective look at his or her own faith in light of the experiences of ministry.

Program Features

The Clinical Pastoral Education program through Christian Homes offers several features including:

  • Individualized, professional learning contracts
  • Interdisciplinary seminars, lectures and readings
  • Written reports and case conferences
  • Team ministry with colleagues and other professionals in ministry and healthcare
  • Ministry to residents, family members and staff at senior living facilities
